On Day 2, Frick went hunting. Meredith and I drove into the City. There was another kind of festival called 2nd Sunday on King Street. King Street is popular shopping district, and similar to the Folly Beach Festival they block off a portion of King Street so that pedestrians can walk on the street and in between shops and enjoy the community atmosphere.
We got there a little early so we drove by the renovated Historic Charleston City Market. The United Daughters of the Confederacy used it as a museum to show historic artifacts from the Civil War period. Not sure if it still a museum or not, however the street level floor is a market place for many vendors to sell their products.

We later met up with Amy, her husband George and their daughter and spent the rest of the day together catching up, walking around and seeing the sites on Marion Square.
Around 5:30 PM I drove headed back to Lexington to prepare for my trip to Spain. I already miss my friends and miss Charleston.

We don't know each other but do have some things in common. I used to live in Roanoke (my ex husband is from a small town near there) and in Charlottesville so I know that area well. I also lived in Charleston for a number of years, my youngest sister and brother still live there. I love, love, love Folly Beach! I am planning in walking the Camino hopefully thus fall or at the latest next spring. Looking forward to reading the rest if your blog. I'm considerably older than you are but feel that I am at a similar crossroad. Maybe a walk in Spain and a trip through the U.S. is just what I need too!
