As we walk into Skagway, we notice a little history about the district
And then we notice that it is a National Park: Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park.
We walk by the railroads.
Later we go walk through the downtown areas
And parts of the Historic District
And visit the Visitor Center.
We say hello to the Park Service Ranger.
And then do a little self tour around the area.
Some of the first items brought to this area.
There is not much to see, so we walk outside. And notice the really large train.
Whoa! That's really cool.
A really large snow plow. I definitely don't want to be standing close to it as it goes by.
We walk around and read a little history about the area.
See and read about the natives who lives in the area and knew the land really well.
Time to head back into town, and wait for the bus for our zipline tour.
Reflections:
No really much to reflect on. The town of Skagway is very small and very historic. I cannot imagine what it is like during the winter time. The historic tour, I'm sure could have been much more eventful, but both my sister and I are just killing sometime before we hit the ziplines.
I really did love the trian and the snow plow that came with it. It was interesting to see one up close and visually appreciate the size and power of it.
Expenses in US$: $0.00
No expenses. The self-guided tour was free.
